This policy covers the KU Banner Helper extension and the Banner records it transfers to KU Planner, including a Current semester copy you explicitly save. Other Planner account, planning and team features are separate from this import. KU Planner is an independent student tool and is not affiliated with or endorsed by Khalifa University or Ellucian.
What you choose to read
Opening the helper from Planner prepares a background Banner tab after you allow access to the Banner website. It discovers semester choices using that tab and Banner's term list. If KU requires sign-in or MFA, you complete it on KU's sign-in pages. The helper does not bypass sign-in or access another browser's profile.
You choose a start semester and an end semester, then click Read schedules. Both endpoints are included. Every available semester in the selected range is checked, newest first, including empty semesters. Only a fully successful, validated read is transferred to the connected Planner tab.
Information handled
The imported records contain semester codes and labels, course identifiers and titles, section numbers, credits, registration status, campus, meeting dates, days, times, buildings and rooms. The preview also includes its source page and capture and expiry times.
Banner's response can contain additional information, including grades and faculty details. The reader discards fields outside the schedule allowlist within the Banner page before returning records to the extension. Grades, transcripts, student identifiers and instructor contact details are not imported into Planner.
The helper briefly processes the name displayed by Banner into a SHA-256 hash to detect a possible account change. This hash is a temporary, pseudonymous change detector, not anonymous data or verified student identity. It is not sent to Planner. Check that Banner is signed in to your own account before reading or saving records.
The helper checks the URLs and identifiers of its connected Planner and Banner tabs and handles random connection identifiers, selected semesters, progress states and expiry times. It does not collect general browsing history or activity on unrelated sites.
Where the information goes
Schedule requests use Banner's existing same-origin session in your browser. The helper does not extract or send passwords, session cookies or sign-in tokens to Planner or the publisher. It does not make add/drop registration changes; Banner may update its selected-semester session state when answering a read request.
The extension sends only the validated schedule records to the connected KU Planner tab on its configured website. The extension has no publisher server, advertising, analytics or third-party data collection. This read and transfer does not upload schedules to Planner's backend, cloud account storage or teams.
Temporary previews and saved copies
Schedule records remain in memory while the extension reads and transfers them, then in Planner's temporary preview. The extension does not persist course records. Its browser session storage holds connection metadata, semester choices, progress code/label/state and the temporary name hash. It does not store course records, enrollment counts, credit totals or meetings.
The connection and preview acceptance window is at most 15 minutes. Cancellation, supported tab or permission changes, account changes and expiry checks invalidate the operation. The preview clears when closed or expired. Browser suspension can delay cleanup; this is not a promise that all bytes are physically deleted at an exact time.
In Planner, you may separately confirm the account and semester and choose Use as current semester. This explicitly saves a copy in that website's local browser storage, associated with the current Planner account or guest scope. It is not automatically uploaded or shared. The saved copy survives the preview expiry, signing out and browser restarts. It does not refresh itself.
The saved website copy is not encrypted by KU Planner. Account separation in the interface is not a security boundary against someone with access to your browser profile. Save only in a profile you trust.
Your controls
Cancel a read with Cancel connection or close its preview. Remove a saved copy using Current semester → Remove current semester copy, or clear KU Planner's website storage. Each account or guest scope has its own saved copy; replacing or removing one does not remove copies in other scopes or profiles. Clearing website storage may also remove other locally saved Planner work.
You may revoke Banner site access or uninstall the helper in your browser's extension settings. Uninstalling removes extension storage but does not remove copies separately saved in Planner's website storage. Signing out also does not delete those copies. The publisher cannot remotely retrieve or delete local copies.
Limited use
KU Banner Helper's use of information obtained through the extension adheres to the Limited Use requirements of the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy. Information is used only to provide the disclosed schedule import and its connection safeguards. It is not sold, used for personalized advertising, or transferred to data brokers. Changes to these practices will be reflected in this policy and disclosed in the product when required.
